Druid Raid Role in WoW: Forever — What Each Spec Brings to Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit & Onyxia, Innervate & Rebirth, and the Nov 2 Launch Changes

Our earlier Druid guides cover the starter basics, Bear tanking, Feral, Balance and Restoration leveling, plus level 60 gearing. This one is about raid night: what a Druid brings to a raid group, what each spec adds on top, and how to share the work when your raid has more than one Druid.

It also covers something new. On the evening of Nov 2 (Pacific), Blizzard posted its final pre-launch development notes, and they change several Druid things we wrote about earlier. The full list is below.

Key dates (Blizzard): launch is Nov 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST. Barrow Deeps (10 players, 8 bosses), Hyjal Summit (20 players, 13 bosses) and Onyxia's Lair (40 players) open on Dec 9, and all three are currently planned to reset weekly.

Read this first: the beta stopped at level 30 and had no raids. Blizzard hasn't revealed boss mechanics for Barrow Deeps or Hyjal Summit, and for Onyxia it has only said to expect "powerful fire attacks" and to build fire resistance. Spell numbers below come from beta client data on community sites, and the Nov 2 changes haven't been tested by players yet.

What changed on Nov 2 (official)

From Blizzard's "Beta Development Notes – Updated November 2". Blizzard says that apart from bugs and serious outliers, it doesn't plan big tuning changes before the raids open.

  • Leader of the Pack and Moonkin Aura give every kind of crit again, and they don't stack. On Oct 15 they had been split (Pack for melee and ranged crit, Moonkin for spell crit), and our Feral and Resto guides said so. That's reversed now: a player benefits from only one of the two.
  • Bear Form and Dire Bear Form threat bonus went up from 50% to 115%. Blizzard did this because Paladins' Salvation and Mass Salvation were removed.
  • Berserk is gone. Primal Bite (3 ranks) is now the Bear-focused 31-point talent and needs Leader of the Pack. Shifting Power is the Cat-focused 31-point talent and needs the new Predatory Discipline.
  • Lacerate is a Feral talent now (row 4, where Primal Bite used to be). Not every Druid learns it anymore.
  • Restoration: Gift of the Earthmother was removed and replaced by Bloom (when your Rejuvenation or Regrowth expires, the target is healed for 100% of your Spirit, or 50% if dispelled). Wild Growth now has a 3-second base cast, and Naturalist can cut it by up to 0.5 sec. Swiftmend now needs your own Rejuvenation or Regrowth on the target. Heart of the Wild and Furor swapped trees.
  • Damage went up: Shred 200% weapon damage (was 155%), Claw 140% (was 110%), Ravage 435% (was 350%), Rip, Rake, Ferocious Bite and Pounce about 25% more, Starfire about 40% more. Genesis is now 2–10%. Blizzard also raised creature health at higher levels to compensate.
  • Races: Tauren Endurance is now just +5% health. Skyborne Wind-Blessed is 2% haste, and Read Leyline can't be used while Innervate is active.

If you planned a raid build around Berserk, Gift of the Earthmother or split crit auras, re-check it at the trainer on launch day.

What every Druid brings, whatever the spec

These are trained spells, so even a Druid in a pure DPS spec carries them. Values are top-rank numbers from beta client data (wowforeverprogress, WoW Forever DB).

ToolWhat it doesRaid note
Mark / Gift of the Wild+385 armor, +16 to all attributes, +27 to all resistances for 1 hourImproved Mark of the Wild is baseline (Blizzard). Gift (level 50) buffs the whole raid and needs Wild Thornroot.
Innervate (level 40)+400% mana regeneration, and all of it keeps going while casting, for 20 sec6-minute cooldown. Usable in Moonkin Form.
Rebirth (level 20)In-combat resurrection with 2,200 health and 2,800 manaNeeds a seed reagent (Ironwood Seed at top rank in beta data). Usable in Moonkin Form.
Remove Curse / Abolish PoisonRemoves a curse or a Bane, cleanses poisons over 8 secBoth usable in Moonkin Form. Mages' Remove Lesser Curse also removes any curse in Forever, so share the job.
Faerie Fire-505 armor on the target for 40 secFree in Cat and Bear Form on a 6-sec cooldown (Blizzard).
Revive (level 12)Out-of-combat resurrection, new in ForeverSaves a lot of corpse runs between pulls.
HibernateSleeps a Beast or Dragonkin for up to 40 secOnly if a fight has a beast or dragonkin add to control.

Rebirth's cooldown: beta client data (WoW Forever DB, wowforeverprogress) says 30 minutes. Wowhead's Resto guide listed 20 minutes when we checked it for our Resto post. Check the tooltip at 60.

What each spec adds

Bear (tank)

  • Threat is much higher now. The +115% Bear Form threat bonus is there to replace Salvation, which nobody can cast on your DPS anymore. That means more of the threat work falls on the tank, and your DPS have to watch their own threat.
  • Demoralizing Roar is tuned to match Warrior's Demoralizing Shout at 60 (Blizzard). They lower the same thing, so in a raid with a Warrior tank, agree on who keeps it up.
  • Challenging Roar (10-minute cooldown) is your emergency AoE taunt. Frenzied Regeneration (3-min cooldown) turns up to 10 Rage per second into 1% health per Rage for 10 sec (beta tooltip).
  • Fear: Berserk, which cleared and blocked Fear, is gone. If a boss fears, your raid will need other answers, like Fear Ward or a Shaman's Tremor Totem. Blizzard hasn't said which bosses fear.
  • Onyxia: Blizzard says to build fire resistance first. Gift of the Wild adds 27 to every resistance, but Druids have no fire-resistance aura or totem, so the rest has to come from gear, Paladins or Shamans.

Cat (melee DPS)

  • Leader of the Pack (21-point Feral talent): +3% crit for the raid while you're in Cat or Bear Form (beta tooltip). Since Nov 2 that's all crit types again.
  • Faerie Fire in form costs nothing. In a raid without a Balance Druid, it's usually your job.
  • Threat: no Salvation anymore, so use Cower (its threat reduction was doubled in Forever) before you pull aggro, not after.
  • Utility costs you DPS. Innervate and Rebirth mean leaving Cat Form, and shifting back costs mana. Agree beforehand who uses them so it isn't always the Cat.

Balance (ranged DPS)

  • Moonkin Aura: +3% crit for the raid within 45 yards (beta tooltip). Since Nov 2 it covers all crit types again and doesn't stack with Leader of the Pack. If your raid already has a Feral with Pack, your Moonkin aura doesn't add anything for players who already have Pack.
  • Insect Swarm (16-point Balance talent) lowers the target's chance to hit by 2%. A Hunter's Scorpid Sting does the same. wowforeverprogress reports that neither one stacks, even from several Druids, so assign it to one player.
  • You're the best utility caster of the Druid specs. Moonkin Form only blocks healing spells (beta tooltip), and Rebirth, Innervate, Remove Curse and Abolish Poison all work in Moonkin Form, so you can rez or decurse without shifting out.

Restoration (healer)

  • Wild Growth heals the target and their party, so you don't have to sit in the same group as the people you heal. It now has a 3-second cast, so it's less of an instant panic button and more something you plan ahead.
  • Tranquility only heals your own party within 20 yards. Improved Tranquility removes its threat and cuts its cooldown by 60% (beta talent data).
  • Swiftmend only works on your own HoTs now, so you can't use another Druid's Rejuvenation on a tank.
  • Bloom rewards Spirit: each Rejuvenation or Regrowth that runs its full duration heals for 100% of your Spirit. That's one more reason mana and Spirit gear matter on long fights (see our gearing guide).
  • Innervate yourself or another healer. It's single-target, so pick by who's lowest on mana, not by habit.

Planning by raid size

The raids are split into parties of five: 2 in Barrow Deeps, 4 in Hyjal Summit, 8 in Onyxia's Lair. Gift of the Wild covers everyone. Wild Growth works on any party you target, but Tranquility only works on your own.

  • Barrow Deeps (10): you may be the only Druid. Your crit aura (Pack or Moonkin), Gift of the Wild, Rebirth and Innervate all come from you, so keep the Rebirth seed and Thornroot in your bags. Agree with your raid leader on who gets the combat res.
  • Hyjal Summit (20): with two Druids, a Feral and a Balance Druid now give the same crit aura, so the second Druid is there for their role, not a second aura. Split Faerie Fire and Insect Swarm between you.
  • Onyxia's Lair (40): with several Druids, make a short list before the pull: one Druid each for Faerie Fire and Insect Swarm, a Rebirth order (who goes first if the main tank dies), an Innervate list for healers, and who rebuffs Gift of the Wild after a wipe. Every raider needs the Drakefire Amulet in their bags, so start the attunement chain (Burning Steppes for Alliance, Badlands for Horde) early.

Debuff limit: Blizzard hasn't said whether Classic's 16-debuff limit applies in Forever, and the beta couldn't test it. If it's still there, Faerie Fire and Insect Swarm are worth more than a cat's bleeds, so don't stack duplicate debuffs.

Still unclear

  • Whether the Moonkin and Pack auras still reach the whole raid. The Oct 15 notes made them raid-wide, and the Nov 2 notes changed the crit types but didn't mention reach. Check your buff bar in a raid group.
  • Rebirth's cooldown at 60 (30 min in beta data, 20 min in an older Wowhead guide).
  • Which armor reductions stack with each other, and whether the 16-debuff limit exists.
  • Boss mechanics for all three raids. Blizzard has only described Onyxia's fire attacks and three phases.
