This is our level 10–60 guide to Balance Druid, the caster spec. Every Druid spec now has its own page: Druid starter guide, Feral leveling guide, Restoration healing guide, Bear tanking guide. The beta closed on October 23. Character creation opens October 27 and the game launches November 4, 2026 (3:00 p.m. PST) with a permanent level 60 cap. The beta stopped at level 30, so everything from level 31 to 60 below comes from the datamined talent trees and trainer lists and from published leveling plans. Nobody has played it yet, and we mark it that way.
Data note: the last beta build was 1.60.1.70532 (Oct 22), which has the same talents, spells and items as the Oct 16 build 70450, plus hotfixes through Oct 23 (foreverchanges.pro). Blizzard can still change numbers before launch.
Is Balance a good leveler?
Not the fastest. Icy Veins says Balance has a slow start and WoW Forever DB's own Balance page tells you to level as Feral and use Balance later (https://wowfdb.com/classes/druid/balance/leveling/). Icy Veins notes that early on Wrath works like an auto-attack while you stay in Bear Form. Balance gets much better at 40 with Moonkin Form and Hurricane. If you want the full picture, read the Feral guide first and decide.
What you get in return: you kill from range, you bring Moonkin Aura, a spell-crit buff that now covers the whole raid (Oct 15 build), and you keep Rebirth, Innervate and Hurricane as group tools.
Talent order, levels 10–60 (Icy Veins)
This is Icy Veins' Balance leveling build, checked against the current talent data (nothing in it has been removed or renamed). It spends 36 points in Balance and 15 in Restoration. By 40 it has all 31 Balance points for Moonkin Form.
| Level | Talent (tree) | Rank | What it does (talent text) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10–14 | Improved Wrath (Balance) | 5/5 | Reduces the cast time of your Wrath spell by 0.5 second and its Mana cost by 50%. |
| 15–16 | Nature's Reach (Balance) | 2/2 | Increases the range of your offensive Balance spells by 20% and improves your chance to hit by 4%. |
| 17 | Moonglow (Balance) | 1/3 | Reduces the Mana cost of your damaging spells by 8%. |
| 18–19 | Nature's Majesty (Balance) | 2/2 | Increases your critical strike chance with spells and melee attacks by 4%. |
| 20 | Nature's Splendor (Balance) | 1/1 | Increases the duration of your Moonfire and Rejuvenation spells by 3 sec, your Regrowth spell by 6 sec, and your Insect Swarm spell by 2 seconds. |
| 21–22 | Moonglow (Balance) | 3/3 | Reduces the Mana cost of your damaging spells by 25%. |
| 23–24 | Improved Moonfire (Balance) | 2/2 | Increases the damage and critical strike chance of your Moonfire spell by 10%. |
| 25 | Insect Swarm (Balance) | 1/1 | The enemy target is swarmed by insects, decreasing their chance to hit with attacks by 2% and causing 48 Nature damage over 12 seconds. |
| 26–30 | Improved Starfire (Balance) | 5/5 | Reduces the cast time of Starfire by 0.5 second and Starfire has a 15% chance to stun its target for 3 seconds. |
| 31–33 | Eclipse (Balance) | 3/3 | Your Wrath spell reduces the cast time of your next 2 Starfire spells by 0.5 second. Stores up to 4 charges. Lasts 15 seconds. |
| 34 | Nature's Grace (Balance) | 1/1 | All non-periodic spell criticals grace you with a blessing of nature, increasing your spellcasting speed and reducing your global cooldown by 10% for 3 seconds. |
| 35–39 | Moonfury (Balance) | 5/5 | Increases the damage done by your Arcane and Nature spells by 10%. |
| 40 | Moonkin Form (Balance) | 1/1 | Shapeshift into Moonkin Form, increasing Omen of Clarity's chance to trigger by 100%, Armor contribution from items by 360%, and all party or raid members within 45… |
| 41–45 | Nature's Focus (Restoration) | 5/5 | Gives your Arcane and Nature spells a 70% chance to not lose casting time when you take damage. |
| 46–50 | Naturalist (Restoration) | 5/5 | Reduces the cast time of your Healing Touch spell by 0.5 second and increases all damage you deal by 5%. |
| 51–55 | Vengeance (Balance) | 5/5 | Increases the critical strike damage bonus of your Arcane and Nature spells by 100%. |
| 56–58 | Subtlety (Restoration) | 3/3 | Reduces the threat generated by your Nature and Arcane spells by 30%. |
| 59–60 | Reflection (Restoration) | 2/3 | Allows 33% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting. |
How Icy Veins reads it: Insect Swarm at 25 gives you a DoT for crowded pulls. With Eclipse 3/3 your filler becomes one Wrath then two Starfires. Vengeance is skipped early because your crit chance is low, and the last 5 points are flexible.
Where the guides differ
- WoW Forever DB's Balance order is much more of a leveling-first build: Improved Wrath 4/5 (10–13), then Heart of the Wild 5/5 (14–18, a Feral talent) and Feral Swiftness 2/2 (19–20), Improved Wrath 5/5 (21), Nature's Focus 5/5 (22–26), Naturalist 5/5 (27–31), Reflection 3/3, Moonglow 3/3, Nature's Majesty 2/2 and Nature's Splendor at 40. Then Nature's Reach 2/2 (41–42), Improved Moonfire 2/2, Insect Swarm at 45, Improved Starfire 4/5 (46–49), Nature's Grace (50), Improved Starfire 5/5 (51), Eclipse 3/3 at 52–54, Moonfury 5/5 (55–59) and Moonkin Form at 60. The finished tree is similar, but it gets Eclipse 20 levels and Moonkin Form 20 levels later than Icy Veins does.
- Why they differ: Icy Veins goes straight down Balance for damage. WoW Forever DB spends points on mana, casting speed and Feral perks first, so you spend less time drinking. We haven't tried either past 30. Pick Icy Veins' order if you're grouping a lot and want Moonkin at 40, and WoW Forever DB's if your main problem is mana and downtime.
- Restoration points: Icy Veins takes Nature's Focus and Naturalist (41–50) and Subtlety and Reflection (56–60) late. The other source takes Reflection and Naturalist before 35. Both agree that Nature's Grace and Moonfury come before the end.
- Out of date warning: older Icy Veins pages and several Wowhead pages predate the Oct 1 talent rework. The two orders above were both checked against the current talent list.
What each level gives you (Balance)
- 10: Bear Form, Maul, Growl, Demoralizing Roar, Nature's Grasp, Teleport: Moonglade. 12: Enrage, Regrowth, Revive. 14: Bash, Cure Poison (quest). 16: Swipe, Aquatic Form. 18: Faerie Fire, Hibernate.
- 20: Cat Form, Prowl, Claw, Rip, Shred, Omen of Clarity, Starfire, Rebirth. 24: Rake, Remove Curse. 26: Dash, Abolish Poison. 28: Challenging Roar, Cower. 30: Travel Form, Tranquility.
- 32: Ferocious Bite, Ravage, Track Humanoids. 36: Pounce, Frenzied Regeneration, Primal Bite rank 2. 38: higher ranks of Hibernate and Soothe Animal.
- 40: Dire Bear Form, Moonkin Form (Balance talent), Hurricane, Innervate, Feline Grace, dual spec. 42: Lacerate. 44: Barkskin.
- 50: Gift of the Wild (a book, per stillsixty) and Wild Growth rank 2. 52: the Druid quest chain in Un'Goro starts with Torwa Pathfinder (Toxic Test, Bloodpetal Poison, A Better Ingredient in the Sunken Temple). 55–60: Moonglade is a leveling zone for Druids. 60: top ranks of Hurricane, Wild Growth and Tranquility.
Trainer levels are from wowforever.one's Druid spell list and WoW Forever DB's Druid leveling pages. Anything after level 30 is a data listing, not tested in play.
The pull loop
From Icy Veins' leveling page:
- Rejuvenation before the pull if you're low on health. Regrowth mid-fight when you need a heal, and Nature's Grasp for adds.
- Open with Moonfire in a crowded area, since it's instant, then Insect Swarm (25) on tougher targets.
- Wrath as the filler. With Eclipse 3/3, cast one Wrath then two Starfires (Starfire arrives at 20).
- Hurricane for packs from 40, and Moonkin Form for armor and the group crit aura.
- Innervate (40) when you're low on mana, and drink between pulls otherwise.
Spell power and Intellect come first on gear, then crit. Spirit helps with downtime and Reflection lets some of it work while you cast (Icy Veins).
Zones, 31–60
This is Classic routing laid over Forever's zone levels, from WoW Forever DB. The new Forever zones (Riverglades, Hyjal and others) weren't playable past level 30 in the beta, so their level ranges are announced, not tested.
- 31–40: Arathi Highlands, Stranglethorn Vale, Desolace and Alterac (30–40), then Dustwallow Marsh, Badlands and Swamp of Sorrows. Riverglades, a new contested zone, is announced for about 35–45.
- 41–50: Tanaris, Feralas, the Hinterlands, Searing Gorge, Swamp of Sorrows and Azshara.
- 51–60: Un'Goro Crater, Felwood, Burning Steppes, the Western and Eastern Plaguelands, Winterspring and Silithus.
Dungeons, 31–60
| Dungeon | Level range (Blizzard) | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | 13–18 | Beneath Ironforge (Alliance start) |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15–20 | Above the Undercity, Tirisfal Glades |
| Excavation Site | 24–29 | Above Whelgar's Excavation, Wetlands |
| City of Dalaran | 28–33 | Alterac Mountains |
| The Drowned City | 35–40 | Off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale |
| Krol'dok Stronghold | 40–45 | Riverglades |
| Alcaz Prison | 48–53 | Alcaz Island, Dustwallow Marsh |
| Blackmaw Hold | 55–60 | Azshara |
| Shaper's Terrace | 58–60 | Northern Un'Goro Crater |
Those nine are the new dungeons. The older Classic dungeons are in Forever too, and Icy Veins' dungeon overview (updated Oct 24) gives their ranges: Razorfen Downs 37–46, Scarlet Monastery Armory 36–44 and Cathedral 38–46, Uldaman 41–51, Zul'Farrak 44–54, Maraudon 46–55, Sunken Temple 50–60, Blackrock Depths 52–60, Dire Maul 54–60 (East) and 56–60 (North, West), Lower Blackrock Spire 55–60, Scholomance 58–60, Stratholme 58–60 and Upper Blackrock Spire 59–60. Other sites list slightly different ranges for the same dungeons (for example the Hall of Thanes as 13–18 versus 13–20), so treat any range as a guide. Only dungeons up to level 30 were open in the beta. Do each dungeon once with its quests in the log, since dungeon quests now carry most of the XP and spamming runs is no longer the fastest way up (Icy Veins).
As Balance you bring Innervate, Rebirth (a combat resurrection), Remove Curse and Abolish Poison, and from 40 Hurricane for big pulls. How threat behaves with Hurricane in groups hasn't been tested above level 30.
Level 60 and what comes next
Launch has nine five-player dungeons and no raids. Barrow Deeps (10 players), Hyjal Summit (20) and Onyxia's Lair (40) open on December 9, and all raids are planned to reset weekly. Onyxia's Lair needs the Drakefire Amulet to enter (Blizzard's raid overview). So the first five weeks are for reaching 60, gearing from dungeons and professions, and picking your Legacy perks. At 60 your 51 talent points are all spent and builds start to differ from leveling builds, so check a PvE guide once you get there.
Legacy is Forever's new account-style perk system: challenges such as reaching level 25, 45 and 60 on a class, completing every dungeon, exploring zones or clearing raids earn Legacy Points, which you spend in the Adventure, Professions and Resourcefulness trees. Perks like Well Rested (rested XP builds 4–20% faster and caps 4–20% higher) and Talented (talent steps come up to five levels sooner, per WoW Forever DB) are worth picking early (Icy Veins Legacy guide).
Common mistakes
- Taking Vengeance too early. Icy Veins skips it until your crit is higher.
- Casting a big spell on a nearly dead mob. Finish it with a cheap Moonfire and keep mana for the next pull.
- Treating 31–60 as tested. None of it has been played.
Still unclear
- Whether Icy Veins' Moonkin-at-40 build or WoW Forever DB's mana-first build is faster between 31 and 60.
- Whether Moonkin Form's armor and crit aura behave as listed at 40.
- Dungeon level ranges differ a little from site to site.
- Zone and gear advice past 30 is Classic routing laid over Forever levels.
- Final launch numbers can still change.
