WoW: Forever Fishing Guide: Leveling 1–300, Lures, Skill Food and the Fish Bowl

Fishing in Forever has a few nice extras. Some fish dishes give Fishing skill for 15 minutes, the Fish Bowl is a camp object that gives stats, and Zockify confirms that zone difficulty doesn't change how fast you gain skill. Fish anywhere your skill can handle.

TL;DR: fish in starter zones to 75, then move to the capitals and the Barrens. Buy the Expert book in Booty Bay at 125, and do Nat Pagle's quest at 225. Use lures and the skill food.

The basics in Forever

  • Ranks: Fishing uses the same four ranks as Classic Era: Apprentice (75), Journeyman (150), Expert (225) and Artisan (300). The cap is still 300.
  • Character level to train: Zockify lists Journeyman at level 10, Expert at 20 and Artisan at 35. SenseOS notes that the client files don't contain level requirements, so these numbers are unconfirmed until launch.
  • Slots: Fishing is a secondary profession. It doesn't use one of your two primary slots.
  • Unlearning: open the profession window (K) and click the red X. Your skill and every recipe you know are gone.

Best class & profession pairings

  • Everyone. It's secondary and costs no slot.
  • Fishing + Cooking feed each other, and Cooking makes your skill food.
  • Casters can fish between pulls while their mana comes back.

Your camp objects

Forever adds Camping. A cook places a Basic Campfire, and each player can add one profession object to it. A camp holds 3 objects, and the objects share a 1-hour cooldown. Sit at the camp for 1 minute and you become rested and pick up the buffs. Camp buffs don't stack with the class buffs they copy. You get the first object at skill 20. The more advanced objects come from Blueprints that drop from dungeon bosses.

Fishing objects: Fish Bowl (skill 20, 8% stats, Kings-like), Fishing Hut, Fishing Rack.

Legacy points

SenseOS's client data shows Legacy points coming only from crafting professions (at 150, 225 and 300). Gathering and secondary professions give none. Wowhead's wording is "each tradeskill", which disagrees, so treat this as unconfirmed until launch. The Professions Legacy tree still has perks that matter here: Bountiful Harvest, Bartering, Master Chef, Luremaster and others.

Gold tips

  • Fish for buff-food ingredients once you know what raiders want at launch.
  • The Luremaster perk is in the Professions Legacy tree. Check what it does before you buy it.

Common mistakes

  • Going to hard zones for "faster" skill. It isn't faster.
  • Not using lures or skill food when your catches start getting away.
  • Forgetting the Expert book in Booty Bay.

FAQ

Does the Fish Bowl stack with Blessing of Kings? No. Camp buffs don't stack with the class buffs they copy.

Where do I start? Any starter zone, including Zephras Isle.
