WoW: Forever Enchanting Guide: Leveling 1–300, Motes of Magic and Relics

Enchanting picked up some of the biggest new features in Forever. It can now make Idols, Librams and Totems (relics for Druids, Paladins and Shamans), staves and off-hands, and it uses a new reagent called Mote of Magic. Also, 13 Health/Mana enchants were renamed to Stamina/Intellect, so older guides will have the wrong recipe names.

TL;DR: you don't need a gathering profession for this one. Disenchant everything you aren't using. Level on Inferior Stamina and wands early, then on the bracer, boot and chest enchants. Annora in Uldaman teaches Artisan.

The basics in Forever

  • Ranks: Enchanting uses the same four ranks as Classic Era: Apprentice (75), Journeyman (150), Expert (225) and Artisan (300). The cap is still 300.
  • Character level to train: Zockify lists Journeyman at level 10, Expert at 20 and Artisan at 35. SenseOS notes that the client files don't contain level requirements, so these numbers are unconfirmed until launch.
  • Slots: you get two primary professions. Cooking, First Aid and Fishing are secondary, so you can learn all three on top.
  • Unlearning: open the profession window (K) and click the red X. Your skill and every recipe you know are gone.

Trainers: Expert is taught by Kitta Firewind in Elwynn Forest (the tower) or Hgarth in Stonetalon. Artisan is taught by Annora in Uldaman.

Leveling path by skill range

70–150Greater Magic Wand, or Chest – Inferior Stamina, then Bracer – Minor Stamina, Runed Silver Rod (100), Cloak – Minor Agility (Dalria or Kulwia, 110–135), Bracer – Lesser Stamina

185–220Bracer – Strength, with Runed Truesilver Rod at 200

235–250Chest – Superior Stamina ⚠️
250–265Bracer – Greater Strength ⚠️

285–300Chest – Major Stamina (Qia, Everlook) ⚠️

⚠️ = not tested on the level-30 beta. This is the Classic-based route with Forever's recipe names.

Best class & profession pairings

  • Druids, Paladins and Shamans get the most out of it, because Enchanting makes relics (Idols, Librams, Totems).
  • Casters use the staves and off-hands it makes.
  • Enchanting + Tailoring is the classic pairing: craft cloth gear, then disenchant it for materials.
  • If you don't want a crafting partner, Enchanting + a gathering profession works for gold.

Key recipes & rewards

  • Relics, staves and off-hands are new in Forever.
  • Mote of Magic is a reagent in the very first recipes.
  • Stamina/Intellect enchants, the renamed old Health/Mana ones.
  • Enchant Gloves – Advanced Skinning (+10), Mining and Herbalism skill enchants.
  • Enchanted Lute: your first camp object (armor, stats and resistances).

Your camp objects

Forever adds Camping. A cook places a Basic Campfire, and each player can add one profession object to it. A camp holds 3 objects, and the objects share a 1-hour cooldown. Sit at the camp for 1 minute and you become rested and pick up the buffs. Camp buffs don't stack with the class buffs they copy. You get the first object at skill 20. The more advanced objects come from Blueprints that drop from dungeon bosses.

Enchanting objects: Enchanted Lute (first, at skill 20), Arcane Salvager, Arcane Forge.

Legacy points

Per SenseOS, a crafting profession gives 1 Legacy point each at 150, 225 and 300, so 3 in total. Each character can spend 16 points at launch. The Professions tree has Working Overtime, Bountiful Harvest, Bartering, Performance Bonus, Master Chef, Luremaster and Dedicated Study. Hitting 300 also opens up the profession's Certification: 1,000 Merchant's Favor for an account-wide title.

Gold tips

  • Don't level wands to sell to vendors. The Oct 15 beta notes set crafted common and uncommon wands to 1 copper. Earlier notes changed wand prices back and forth too.
  • Dust and essences can go into Waylaid Crate: Curiosities for Merchant's Favor.
  • At launch, sell enchants as a service in trade chat. Stamina and Strength bracers are always in demand.

Common mistakes

  • Searching for "Health" or "Mana" enchants. They're called Stamina/Intellect now.
  • Selling greens to the vendor instead of disenchanting them.
  • Forgetting the Runed rods. You need the right rod for each tier.

FAQ

Does Enchanting need a gathering profession? No. Disenchanting is your gathering.

Who teaches Artisan? Annora, inside Uldaman, per Zockify.
